“La Botul Kalului” House-Museum of Horse Breeding

The house that contains this remarkable museum is itself more than 100 years old, and the collection within it reflects an equally deep connection to the past. The museum’s foundation is built upon items inherited from the owner’s father and grandfather — a family in which horses have always played a central role, making this collection a genuinely personal and authentic tribute to the tradition of horse breeding and horsemanship.

Outdated household items and objects related to horse maintenance accumulated naturally over generations before finding their way into the museum, creating a collection that feels organic rather than assembled. Among the exhibits visitors will discover are saddles of various types, an old cart, horse bridles and a chaise constructed according to sketches from the 1920s — each piece telling its own story about the practical realities of horse-dependent rural life across different eras. Many exhibits offer insights into various aspects of horse breeding, providing an educational as well as historical experience.

A working farm adjacent to the museum is home to 6 horses, and visitors who wish to do so can take a ride — bringing the museum’s historical theme vividly to life through direct experience. The museum additionally houses an interesting collection of Soviet motor vehicles, rounding out the exhibits with another layer of transportation heritage from the 20th century.
