Woolen House “Mioara”

The Woolen House “Mioara” opens its doors to connoisseurs of traditional weaving, natural textiles and the rich material culture of Moldovan folk tradition. Visitors are invited to discover the fascinating process behind creating several iconic elements of the Moldavian folk costume: the katrintse national skirt, the intricate bryu belt, and the large patterned woven purses and shoulder knapsacks crafted for both men and women — each piece representing generations of accumulated skill and cultural knowledge.

The heart of this remarkable place is Svetlana Kozhukhar, the workshop’s owner, who has preserved the old weaving looms belonging to her great-grandmother with great love and devotion, continuing this ancient craft through her own skilled hands.
