The Palace of Culture “Energetik” opened on April 22, 1970, quickly establishing itself as the creative and cultural heart of Dnestrovsk — a center of artistic expression and leisure for the town’s residents that continues to serve this role to the present day.
In the spring of 1974, artists E.I. Beznisko and V.I. Patik began work on a pair of symmetrical mosaic panels for the building’s facade, titled “Energy” and “Art of Moldova.” Each panel measures an impressive 3.9 by 8.7 meters, and together these two masterpieces of monumental painting transformed what might have been a typical Soviet cultural building into something unmistakably distinctive. The panels gave the Palace of Culture its own visual identity and rapidly became one of the most recognizable attractions in the entire town — a wonderful example of how Soviet-era monumental art could elevate everyday civic architecture into something genuinely memorable and beautiful.
