The Memorial Complex of Military Glory

The Memorial Complex of Military Glory serves as the final resting place for 81 soldiers of the Soviet Army who gave their lives during the liberation of Dubossary from German-Romanian invaders in 1944. Among those interred here is Hero of the Soviet Union I. Krasikov, who commanded a mortar crew with distinction during this pivotal campaign. On May 5, 2010, granite busts honoring Krasikov were unveiled at the memorial alongside tributes to four additional Heroes of the Soviet Union buried within the broader Dubossary district: G. Korneyev, I. Shikunov, N. Alferiev and I. Fedosov — together creating a powerful visual tribute to the exceptional courage displayed during the liberation.

The memorial’s significance was extended in subsequent years when 33 defenders of Pridnestrovie who died during the armed conflict with Moldova in the early 1990s were also laid to rest here, connecting the sacrifices of the Great Patriotic War generation to those who fought decades later for the independence and sovereignty of the republic. This dual commemoration makes the Memorial Complex of Military Glory a site where nearly five decades of military history and sacrifice converge within a single sacred space.
