Historical Museum

The Historical Museum of Grigoriopol presents a comprehensive exposition tracing the history of this distinctive city, founded by decree of Empress Catherine II in 1792. Among the museum’s most captivating exhibits is a detailed diorama depicting Grigoriopol as it appeared at the end of the 19th century, offering visitors a vivid visual portrait of the town during one of its most significant periods of development as an Armenian colony and important Dniester trade center.

The museum’s ethnographic holdings are equally compelling, with an exposition recreating the authentic interior of a traditional peasant hut alongside household items from the bygone era — tangible connections to the daily life of the community’s earlier generations. The museum also displays a copy of the city’s original coat of arms, which continues to serve as the official coat of arms of Grigoriopol to this day, providing a direct visual link between the city’s imperial founding and its contemporary identity.
