Central Park

Rybnitsa’s Central Park was founded in 1967 and remains one of the most cherished and symbolically important public spaces in the city to this day. The park’s most recognizable feature — its central fountain — was completely transformed following a major reconstruction in 2019, giving this beloved landmark a striking new appearance while preserving its role as the heart of the park.

On November 21, 1998, to mark the 370th anniversary of the founding of Rybnitsa, a memorial sign titled “History Frozen in Stone” was unveiled within the park, created by A.M. Pokusinsky and I.P. Moseichuk. The stone that would eventually become this monument was transported from the Moldovan town of Rezina, situated directly opposite Rybnitsa on the far bank of the Dniester River. The original stone weighed an impressive 15 tons, with 5 tons carefully removed during the shaping process to achieve the monument’s final form.

The memorial sign takes the distinctive shape of an open book — a symbol of history itself — while accompanying elements depicting a pen and inkwell represent knowledge and life, conveying the meaningful message that the chronicle of Rybnitsa’s story continues to be written with every passing year.
