The Tower of Winds rises dramatically on a steep Dniester cliff in Stroentsy village, one of the most striking architectural landmarks in the entire northern region of Pridnestrovie. This architectural monument of the late 19th century was built in memory of Pyotr Khristianovich Wittgenstein — the great commander of the Russian army and celebrated Hero of the Patriotic War of 1812 — erected by his family as an enduring tribute to his legacy on the very estate where he had invested so much of his vision and energy.

Before the Revolution of 1917, the tower housed a bronze bust of the commander within its interior, while four cast-iron plates bearing epitaphs to Prince Wittgenstein were affixed to its sides. One of these inscriptions speaks with moving simplicity across the generations:

“Dear father! You have given the foundation for everything here, Accept the due recompense for all time.”

Positioned on its commanding clifftop vantage point above the Dniester, the Tower of Winds offers spectacular views across the river and the surrounding landscape, making it one of the most rewarding destinations for visitors exploring the remarkable historical and natural heritage of Stroentsy village.
