Historical Museum in Slobodzeya

The Historical Museum of Slobodzeya was founded in 1975 by P.I. Borisenko, a veteran of the Great Patriotic War whose personal experience of history inspired him to create a dedicated institution for preserving the memory of this region’s remarkable past. The museum’s exhibition encompasses household items and traditional clothing worn by local peasants during the 19th and 20th centuries, offering visitors a tangible connection to the everyday life of previous generations in the Slobodzeya district.

Beyond these ethnographic holdings, the museum provides comprehensive coverage of the military and political events that shaped the region from 1901 through to 1945, alongside materials documenting the post-war period and the formation of Pridnestrovie as a modern republic — creating a narrative arc that takes visitors from the early 20th century through to the birth of the contemporary state.
