Museum of Alcoholic Beverages “Bottle”

In 1988, Grigory Korzun, former President of the Tiligul football club, founded a truly one-of-a-kind private museum in the village of Ternovka — a collection of alcoholic beverages so extraordinary that it now lays claim to a place in the Guinness Book of Records. As the collection grew to remarkable proportions, a purpose-built structure was commissioned to house it: a special building standing 28 meters tall and designed in the unmistakable shape of a giant bottle, visible from a considerable distance and immediately announcing the unusual nature of what lies within.

Inside, four floors and five rooms decorated with intricate carvings display over 10,000 different types of bottles sourced from 105 countries around the world — a collection of breathtaking diversity and scope. The range of items on display spans the extraordinary and the unexpected: from the tiniest exhibit, a Mexican bottle shaped like a cartridge holding just 10 grams of whiskey, to an enormous pot-bellied bottle filled with Ukrainian horilka, sealed with a corncob stopper and containing a full 25 liters of drink.

The museum’s collection encompasses bottles of the most fantastical and bizarre shapes imaginable: cigars, light bulbs, matryoshka nesting dolls, weapons, trains and even busts of famous historical figures — including one shaped as Peter the Great that contains 7 liters of Russian vodka. Genuine rarities add further dimension to the experience, including mead from 1882 and cognac from 1852, the latter displayed on its own dedicated stand surrounded by crystal wine glasses.

Two dedicated tasting rooms complete the museum experience, their honeycomb-like walls displaying a further four thousand bottles — creating a spectacular visual environment in which visitors can sample the collection’s contents as well as admire them.
