Holy Presentation Pachomius Convent

The Holy Presentation Pachomius Convent stands within Kirov Park, its construction beginning in 2003 on grounds that carry deep historical and spiritual significance. The site once served as a cathedral cemetery, where soldiers of the 8th Astrakhan Dragoon Regiment and 56th Zhitomir Infantry Regiment — both stationed in Tiraspol — were laid to rest alongside parishioners of the Nikolsky Cathedral. As construction of the convent commenced, the remains were carefully and respectfully reburied, with dedicated search work subsequently organized to help establish the identities of those interred there.

By 2012, the convent’s gate and belfry had been completed, with the construction of the main temple following in the years that came after. The completed temple houses many unique and treasured shrines, most notably an icon of the Resurrection brought directly from the sacred grounds of Mount Athos. This icon, together with other holy images and the dome crosses crowning the convent, was personally consecrated by Patriarch Kirill of Moscow and All Russia during his historic visit to Pridnestrovie in 2013 — an honor that speaks to the spiritual significance this young but remarkable convent has already attained within the broader Orthodox world.
