Ice Rink

Tiraspol’s ice rink made history when it first opened in 2008, bringing figure skating and hockey to a region where such sports are genuinely exotic given the warm local climate. Powerful refrigeration units maintain ice temperatures below zero even during the hottest summer weather, ensuring year-round skating for enthusiasts of all ages.

The opening ceremony itself became a landmark event in the life of Tiraspol: as part of an ice show staged by celebrated skater Ilya Averbukh, a constellation of Russian figure skating stars graced the ice — including Olympic champions Alexei Yagudin, Tatyana Navka and Roman Kostomarov, alongside Olympic silver and bronze medalist Irina Slutskaya, making the occasion genuinely unforgettable for everyone present.

At the entrance to the complex, a monument to outstanding Soviet hockey player Vladimir Krutov was erected in August 2013, honoring one of the great figures of the sport. Following a major reconstruction, the ice rink reopened to visitors in 2023, offering a fully updated facility for both recreational skaters and serious athletes.
