PMR Dragon Boat Championship 2026

On August 21–22, the Dniester River in Rybnitsa hosts the PMR Championship in Dragon Boat Racing — one of the most energetic and team-spirited sporting events on the republic’s calendar.

Dragon boat racing has grown rapidly in Pridnestrovie since the launch of the large-scale republican regatta “The President’s Family for a Healthy Lifestyle” in 2022, which brought this spectacular team sport to wide public attention. Each crew consists of 11 people — 10 paddlers and a helmsman — and the competitions bring together amateur athletes, workplace teams and families on the waters of the Dniester. The sport has developed seriously enough in Pridnestrovie that the republic now has its own Masters of Sport in dragon boat racing, and the national championship has become a firmly established annual event.
