How to Get from Chisinau to Tiraspol

Tiraspol is roughly 70 km from Chisinau — about 1 to 1.5 hours by road, border crossing included. There are three practical ways to make the trip: minibus, taxi, or a guided transfer that also handles the border formalities for you.

By minibus (rutieră)

The cheapest option. Minibuses run regularly from Chisinau’s central bus station to Tiraspol, with a stop (or checkpoint inspection) at the administrative border. Budget 1.5–2 hours door to door, and have your passport ready — this is routine, not a hassle, but it does mean the minibus won’t wait for you if the check runs long.

By taxi or private car

Faster and more flexible, especially if you’re combining Tiraspol with Bender Fortress or another stop on the same day. Agree the fare (and whether it includes the return leg) before you set off — border-crossing taxis often charge a premium that isn’t obvious up front.

Guided transfer (recommended for first-timers)

A guide handles the migration card and any border questions, and the transfer itself is built into the tour price — no separate transport to arrange. This is the easiest option if it’s your first time crossing into Transnistria.
