15 Things to Do in Transnistria

Transnistria packs an unusual amount into a small strip of land on the east bank of the Dniester: a 16th-century Ottoman fortress, a Soviet Union that never quite ended, a working brandy distillery older than the country around it, and a river valley made for kayaking. Here’s what’s actually worth your time, organized by how much of it you want to see.

If you have one day
